4 alleged drug suspects yield P127K ‘shabu’ in separate buy-bust ops in Bicol

Police arrested four suspected drug traders and seized P127,400 worth of crystal meth, locally known as "shabu," in separate buy-bust operations in Masbate and Camarines Sur provinces on Friday.

LEGAZPI CITY — Police arrested four suspected drug traders and seized P127,400 worth of crystal meth, locally known as “shabu,” in separate buy-bust operations in Masbate and Camarines Sur provinces on Friday.

In a report, the Masbate police said Junie James Cabug, 25, and his live-in partner, Daniela Lovelle Cebandal, 18, were arrested in a buy-bust operation at Barangay (village) Espinosa in Masbate City, Masbate at around 1:30 a.m.

Authorities recovered 10 grams of shabu with an estimated value of P68,000, six aluminum strips, and a tooter.

Police said Cabug was included in the illegal drug watch list in the city.

In Naga City in Camarines Sur, Errol Paligar, 32, was arrested in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Sabang at around 3:40 p.m.

Master Sgt. Tobias Bongon, Naga City police spokesperson, said police recovered eight grams of shabu worth 54,400 from Paligar, who was also on the illegal drugs watch list.

In a separate operation in Barangay Concepcion Grande, John Francis Peña, 38, was also arrested at around 11:15 a.m.

A total of seven small sachets of shabu worth 5,000 were confiscated.

The suspects will face charges for violations of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
