The Quezon City government has denied the request of Bagong Alyansang Makabayan to carry out their protest action during President Marcos’ first State of the Nation Address along Batasan Road. The city’s Department of Public Order and Safety (DPOS) said Batasan Road, where the group wanted to stage their protest, was a very busy thoroughfare and was not considered a freedom park for protests. DPOS chief Elmo San Diego said the rejection was based on the recommendation of the Quezon City police. —DEMPSEY REYES
