Albay eyes own helpline for emergency response
LEGAZPI CITY, Albay, Philippines —The Albay provincial government is planning to activate its own helpline to enable quicker government response to emergencies in the province.
Through a memorandum of understanding signed on Monday, Gov. Noel Rosal, representatives from software developer Next Generation Advanced 911, and the Department of the Interior and Local Government agreed to hold a test run of the system in Legazpi City, which already has its own 911 command center established in 2019.
The Albay capital’s 911 command center is manned by 10 personnel with vehicles on standby. It also has 136 closed-circuit television cameras positioned in the city’s strategic areas.
