2 infants among 7 new COVID-19 cases in Olongapo City

Olongapo City continues to see a growing number of COVID-19 cases. As of Tuesday (July 19), its active infections stood at 12 following the addition of seven new cases, including two newborn babies. | PHOTO: Joanna Rose Aglibot

OLONGAPO CITY — A 3-day-old and an 8-month-old infants in this city have contracted COVID-19 and were among the seven new cases here, local data showed Tuesday, July 19.

The newborn baby girl from Barangay Old Cabalan showed symptoms of the disease, such as difficulty in breathing. The older baby boy, also from Old Cabalan, had fever, cough and colds.

According to the local COVID-19 task force, the other five new cases were fully vaccinated residents aged 25 to 51.

As of Tuesday, the city’s active COVID-19 cases stood at 12.

Since the pandemic struck in 2020, the city has registered 7,049 COVID-19 cases with 6,685 recoveries and 352 deaths.
