ILOILO CITY – A crane’s boom used for constructing a flyover in Pavia town, Iloilo fell at around 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday, July 19.

Two cars were crushed but there were no reported fatalities.

A 20-year-old woman was rushed to the hospital for minor head and neck injuries.

The International Builders Corporation, the contractor of the Aganan flyover project, owned the crane.

Initial police investigation showed that the crane’s hydraulic hose exploded, causing the boom to fall.

The crane operator, a 31-year-old male, was detained at the Pavia Municipal Police Station while an investigation was conducted.

Police station chief John Araño said they are planning to file charges against the operator for reckless imprudence resulting in physical injury and property damage.
