Active COVID-19 infections jump past 20k – DOH tracker
MANILA, Philippines — The country’s active tally of infections reached 20,524 on Monday after the Department of Health (DOH) recorded 2,285 new infections of COVID-19.
This makes today the fifth consecutive day the DOH logged daily infections of more than 2,000.
Based on the DOH’s COVID-19 tracker on its website, the new infections also brought the country’s caseload to 3,735,385 nationwide, with 3,654,218 recoveries and 60,641 deaths.
The new tallied cases, however, were slightly lower than the number of infections recorded on Sunday, which was at 2,560, but still higher than the average daily cases recorded from July 11 to 17, at 2,091.
On the other hand, only 15,908 individuals were recorded to have been tested for COVID-19 on Sunday, July 17.
Article continues after this advertisementMeanwhile, the COVID-19 tracker showed that Metro Manila continues to lead with the highest number of infections per region in the last two weeks with 10,130 cases — double the amount the following region recorded — Calabarzon with 5,707, and Western Visayas with 2,434.
Article continues after this advertisementQuezon City, meanwhile, topped the list of areas with the most reported cases in the last two weeks at 2,012, followed by Cavite at 1,971 and Manila with 1,368.
