LPA, ‘habagat’ to bring rain over parts of PH Tuesday – Pagasa

MANILA, Philippines — A low-pressure area (LPA) near Masbate and the southwest monsoon will bring rain to several parts of the country on Tuesday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.
According to Pagasa senior weather specialist Chris Perez, the LPA was last located 65 kilometers west-northwest of Masbate. It is not expected to intensify into a storm.
“Bukas mararamdaman pa rin ang epekto ng LPA at ng habagat (southwest monsoon) sa ilang bahagi ng Southern Luzon area. Maulap, kalat-kalat ang pagulan, at pagkidlat, pagkulog sa Calabarzon, sa Mimaropa at Bicol Region,” he said.
(Tomorrow, the effects of the LPA and the southwest monsoon will still be felt in some parts of the Southern Luzon area. Cloudy, scattered rain, and lightning, thunder in Calabarzon, Mimaropa, and Bicol Region.)

“Samantalang sa Metro Manila at natititrang bahagi ng Luzon bahagyang maulap hanggang sa maulap, maliban na lang sa ilang pulo-pulong dagliang pagulan na minsan ay may kasamang pagkidlat at pagkulog lalo na sa hpon at gabi,” he added.
(While Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies, aside from some brief isolated rain that will sometimes be accompanied by lightning and thunder, especially in the afternoon and evening.)
Cloudy skies and rain were also seen to occur in Western Visayas and the Zamboanga Peninsula in Mindanao due to the southwest monsoon, according to Pagasa.
On the other hand, the rest of Visayas and Mindanao will have relatively fairer weather with hot and humid temperatures during the daytime and chances of rain in the afternoon and evening, it added.
Despite an LPA and the prevailing southwest monsoon, Perez said no gale warning was raised on the country’s surrounding coasts. He, however, said moderate to rough sea conditions may be expected over Luzon’s western and northern seaboards.
The state weather service then issued the following temperature range in key cities/areas across the country for Tuesday:
- Metro Manila: 25 to 32 degrees Celsius
- Baguio City: 16 to 22 degrees Celsius
- Laoag City: 25 to 32 degrees Celsius
- Tuguegarao: 24 to 32 degrees Celsius
- Legazpi City: 25 to 32 degrees Celsius
- Puerto Princesa City: 26 to 30 degrees Celsius
- Tagaytay: 23 to 30 degrees Celsius
- Kalayaan Islands: 26 to 30 degrees Celsius
- Iloilo City: 26 to 31 degrees Celsius
- Cebu: 26 to 31 degrees Celsius
- Tacloban City: 25 to 31 degrees Celsius
- Cagayan De Oro City: 24 to 31 degrees Celsius
- Zamboanga City: 25 to 30 degrees Celsius
- Davao City: 24 to 31 degrees Celsius
