Veco turns over recycled school chairs, tables

09:38 AM March 17, 2012

THE Visayan Electric Company (Veco) continued giving sustainable pieces of furniture to the day care centers in barangays Ermita, Pasil, Zapatera and Sta. Cruz in Cebu City and barangay Tangke in Talisay City last January.

Tangke barangay captain Perla Cabanes received the new wooden furniture from Veco to replace their day care center’s worn out plastic tables and chairs.

Tangke’s top day care pupil Alexandra Labita told her classmates in vernacular “Dili garasan ug dili sulat-sulatan ang mga lamisa ug lingkuranan (Don’t scratch the tables and chairs or write on it).”

Since 2011, Veco makes use of its tons of wooden crates containing electrical wires and other supplies. The scrap wood will be recycled into furniture pieces before it will donated to the day care centers within its franchise area.

Last Nov. 24, Vito Day Care Center in Minglanilla town, southern Cebu received three tables and 30 kiddie chairs for their 30 pupils.
