CEBU CITY—The Land Transportation Office (LTO) got the go-signal to upgrade its extension office in Talibon town in Bohol into a district office.

In a statement issued Friday, LTO-Central Visayas director Victor Emmanuel Caindec said former president Duterte technically approved the bill transforming the Talibon office into an independent district office.

Republic Act 11789 created the LTO Talibon District Office after it lapsed into law on May 29.

Caindec said the new district office means better services for the area because it would no longer need to share the budget of the Tagbilaran District Office.

“They already have their office budget, including the salaries of their employees, maintenance and operating expenses,” he explained.

Caindec said the LTO Talibon Office used to rely on the Tagbilaran office for personnel and budget.

With the development, the Tagbilaran District Office personnel deployed in Talibon may return to base where they need to expand services.
