Pagasa: Expect wet, cloudy Monday due to ‘habagat’

MANILA, Philippines — Expect a cloudy and rainy Monday due to the southwest monsoon or “habagat” which is affecting the entire country, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

“Ngayong araw inaasahan natin ang maulan na panahon dahil sa habagat o southwest monsoon. ‘Yung southwest monsoon, ay nakakaapekto sa buong bansa,”  Pagasa weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio said.

(Today, we are expecting rainy weather due to the southwest monsoon, which is affecting the whole country.)

Apart from the southwest monsoon, the weather bureau is not monitoring low pressure area or weather disturbance in the vicinity of the Philippine area of responsibility, Aurelio said.

Cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms are expected in the Bicol region, Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon,Palawan) region, the Visayas, Caraga, Northern Mindanao, Zamboanga Peninsula, Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi.

Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country are expected to have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers and thunderstorms especially in the afternoon or evening.

Pagasa warned of possible flash floods and landslides in rain-affected areas.

Laoag: 24 to 32 degrees Celsius

Tuguegarao: 24 to 34 degrees Celsius

Baguio City:  16 to 21 degrees Celsius

Metro Manila: 24 to 33 degrees Celsius

Tagaytay City: 22 to 31 degrees Celsius

Kalayaan Islands: 26 to 31 degrees Celsius

Puerto Princesa City: 25 to 31 degrees Celsius

Legazpi City: 25 to 32 degrees Celsius

Iloilo City: 25 to 31 degrees Celsius

Cebu: 26 to 31 degrees Celsius

Tacloban City: 25 to 32 degrees Celsius

Cagayan De Oro City: 24 to 31 degrees Celsius

Zamboanga City: 24 to 34 degrees Celsius

Davao City: 24 to 32 degrees Celsius 

The northern and western sections of Luzon are expected to have  moderate winds in the southwest direction, with  moderate sea conditions, Pagasa said.

The rest of the country, meanwhile, will have light to moderate winds from southwest to south, and slight to moderate coastal waters.
