TUGUEGARAO CITY — A councilor who was reelected last May 9 but passed away due to a recurring illness on July 13 was given a posthumous award on Friday, July 15, by the city government for his more than two decades of contribution in the city’s legislative affairs and development.
City Councilor Danilo Baccay, 67, served as councilor from 1992 to 2001, 2004 to 2007, and from 2016 until his death.
Baccay also served as vice mayor from 2003 to 2013.
He was the eldest brother of Archbishop Ricardo Baccay in Tuguegarao City.
During the awarding ceremony at the city hall, his contributions to the local legislative council were the approval of the Solid Waste Management Code, Real Property Tax Code, Public Market Code, Local Revenue Code, and Barangay People’s Day were cited.
Baccay was feted as an outstanding councilor by the Philippine Councilors’ League – Cagayan Chapter in 2000.
