MABALACAT CITY, Pampanga—Policemen arrested on Thursday, July 14, a 32-year-old man in Bamban town, Tarlac province, for allegedly spreading a woman’s nude photos on the Internet and extorting money from the victim.
The Tarlac police identified the suspect as Alvin Sicat of Bamban.
The Tarlac Provincial Cyber Response Team led the surveillance and entrapment operation against Sicat after the victim filed a complaint against him, the police said.
The suspect allegedly sent nude photos of the victim to several people, including her siblings.
Colonel Erwin Sanque, Tarlac police director, said Sicat demanded P2,000 from the victim in exchange for deleting her nude photos.
Unknown to the suspect, the victim was already working with the police.
The victim agreed to send P1,000 initially to Sicat via remittance service. The police arrested him after he claimed the money.
Sanque said the police would charge the suspect with robbery-extortion, using a fictitious name and concealing his true identity, grave coercion, and violating the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012. INQ
