National COVID-19 positivity rate now at 10.9% – OCTA

MANILA, Philippines — The nationwide COVID-19 positivity rate is now at 10.9 percent, said OCTA Research fellow Dr. Guido David on Wednesday.

This was based on the figures released on Wednesday by the Department of Health (DOH) showing that an additional 1,604 infections were reported, bringing active cases to 14,862.

“14,862 active cases, 1.9% nationwide positivity rate. 637 cases in NCR [National Capital Region, or Metro Manila]. Projecting 2,400 cases 7.14.22,” said David in a COVID-19 update on Twitter.

This puts the country’s positivity rate at twice the World Health Organization’s ideal positivity rate benchmark of 5 percent.

The current positivity rate is also higher than the national positivity rate reported by DOH on Monday, which was 9.5 percent.

In an earlier report, David also noted that Metro Manila had an increase in its healthcare utilization rate to 30.1 percent and its ICU occupancy to 21.8 percent.

The healthcare utilization rate has also gone past 50 percent in three areas: Olongapo with 64.9 percent, Iloilo (not including Iloilo City) with 51.7 percent, and Bohol with 51.4 percent.

Meanwhile, the ICU occupancy in 70 percent in Iloilo and 55.6 percent in Bohol.
