MANILA, Philippines — Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary Erwin Tulfo disclosed Wednesday two employees were relieved from their posts due to discourteous attitudes at work.
Tulfo lamented how some employees had become “lax” over the past few months. He also noted how some employees had shown a bad attitude at work.
He said that the two employees — one stationed at DSWD’s office at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport and another in Tagbilaran City — have been relieved from their posts.
“Merong sinasabi nai-stress daw dealing with the people — the elderly and the poor — nakukulitan, medyo hindi na maganda kanilang pakikitungo or attitude,” Tulfo said in an interview with ABS-CBN News Channel.
(Some say they were stressed dealing with elderly and poor people and found them annoying. As a result, their attitude has not been good.)
“Yung sa Tagbilaran na I relieved, very unfortunate she’s in our complaints section. Sa grievance siya, tumatanggap ng reklamo tapos ganun ang attitude. So I have to remove her from there immediately, reprimanded her, warned her, and probably she will have to undergo retraining,” he added.
(The other one in Tagbilaran, who I relieved, it’s deplorable because that person is in the complaints section. You accept complaints, yet your attitude is terrible.)
Tulfo stressed that those working in the DSWD must remember that “our clients are the poor people” and that their office is not a revenue-generating agency.
“I have to remind my employees na ginagastos natin ang binabayad na buwis ng taumbayan at gastusin natin sa tamang paraan,” Tulfo said.
(I have to remind my employees that we are spending the people’s taxes, and we have to use it properly.)
