LUCENA CITY—Police on Wednesday, July 13, arrested a 26-year-old woman, tagged as number four on the list of wanted criminals in Quezon province, for her involvement in the abduction of a businessman in Candelaria town.

Colonel Joel Villanueva, Quezon police chief, identified in a report the arrested fugitive as Camille Lesegues of Candelaria.

The report said combined police operatives, armed with a warrant, arrested at 12:20 a.m. Lesegues in her safe house at the town center.

Lesegues faced robbery, and kidnapping with homicide charges at the Regional Trial Court, Fourth Judicial Region, Branch 59 in Lucena since May 23, 2022, with no bail recommended.

The report tagged Lesegues as a member of a syndicate responsible for the abduction in April 2018 of a businessman in Candelaria.

The kidnap victim was immediately rescued after a fierce gun battle in San Pablo City that left five suspected kidnappers and a policewoman dead.

Leseguez was detained in Candelaria police jail.

Villanueva attributed the arrest of the wanted felon from the active participation of volunteer citizens group under the police “community mobilization program” and “Barangay Intelligence Network.”
