Laguna hospital’s outpatient dep't closed as COVID-19 hits staff

LUCENA CITY—The Outpatient Department (OPD) of the Ospital ng Cabuyao in Cabuyao City in Laguna province has been temporarily closed since Monday, July 11, due to COVID-19 infections among its health care workers.

The city public information office (PIO) announced on social media the suspension of medical services at the OPD of the said government-run hospital located in Barangay Tres.

“The OPD health care workers are being observed and tested for COVID-19 symptoms,” Dr. Roverlyn Herce, Ospital ng Cabuyao chief, said in a public advisory posted by the PIO.

The announcement did not disclose the number of infected hospital staff.

Herce said: “The OPD department is temporarily not available starting July 11 until further notice.”

The medical facility has been conducting disinfection, wall-to-wall sterilization and updating of inventory while waiting for observation and test results.

As of July 10, Cabuyao City still has 10 active COVID-19 cases.
