The Regional Federation 7 Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants (RF 7 JPIA) held its annual regional convention on March 11 and 12 at the Artist’s Hall of Benedicto College in Mandaue City with the theme “RF JPIA Rocks at Intensity 7.”
Debate, line-up impersonation, drawing contest, singing contest and cosplay competition highlighted the event.
Jearick Diaz won the cosplay competition. Diaz is a little boy who dressed up as robot Atom from an American science fiction movie “Real Steel.”
“He’s cool, strong and awesome,” said Diaz when asked why he chose Atom.
Rayland Duarte placed second with his cosplay of Gakupo from “Vocaloids.” Coming in third place was Zen Caintic who cosplayed as Tidus from “Final Fantasy X.”
The team of Jon Alfred Dalag, Jacques Ian David Estola and Jameson Apostol from Cebu Institute of Technology University emerged champion in the debate contest.
Jason Suson of the University of San Carlos (USC) won first place in JPIA X-Factor singing competition. Chrisal de Noche Kilat of University of San Jose Recoletos (USJR) and Jane Emeterio from University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) came in second and third, respectively.
In the line-up impersonation contest, Teresa Montemayor of Benedicto College won first place with her impersonation of Sen. Miriam Defensor Santiago. An impersonator of Budoy, Clint Levy Crampatanta of USJR placed second, while Roberto Yagonia’s (USPF) spoof of Boy Abunda got him into third place.
Shirliz Benitez bested among all the participants of the JPIA drawing contest.
“The JPIA convention is a special time for Aaccountancy students from different schools to gather and socialize. Not only will this event test the knowledge we gained from our course, but this will also allow us to explore our different talents,” said Trixie Ann Hucalla, president of Region 7 JPIA.
The proceeds from the cosplay competition will be donated to Bukas Palad Foundation, a charitable institution that provides free education to elementary pupils.
“I hope that JPIA will have more events that will not only benefit the organization, but also the whole Cebuano community,” Hucalla said.
