Metro Manila’s COVID-19 positivity rate jumps to 10.9%; hike recorded in 18 other areas

MANILA, Philippines — The COVID-19 positivity rate in Metro Manila is now at 10.9%, pandemic monitor OCTA Research Group said.

18 other areas nationwide likewise recorded an increased positivity rate as of July 9, 2022.

OCTA fellow Guido David said that Metro Manila’s positivity rate rose to 10.9% on July 9 from 8.3% on July 2.

Other areas have likewise recorded an increase in positivity rates, with the following areas recording over 10% positivity rate, Davis said.

Aklan – 26.9% from 21%

Antique – 17.8% from 17.1%

Batangas – 11.3% from 7.3%

Capiz – 18.8% from 6.2%

Cavite – 14.9 % from 11.7%

Iloilo – 11% from 7.2%

Isabela – 10.3% from 3.4%

Laguna – 18.2% from 10.3%

Nueva Ecija – 14% from 3.5%

Pampanga – 16.5% from 9.1%

Rizal – 16.6% from 11.3%

Tarlac – 16.7% from 6.4%

Positivity rate is the percentage of people who were found positive for COVID-19 among the total number of individuals tested.

The Department of Health said the current COVID-19 positivity rate nationwide is at 6.8%.

The health department said the positivity rate should not be the sole metric for assessing the country’s current COVID-19 situation, saying it is also important to consider the overall picture of transmission and case severity.
