DOH logs 2,018 new COVID-19 cases; active cases now at 13,818

MANILA, Philippines — An additional 2,018 cases of COVID-19 were reported by the Department of Health (DOH) on Sunday, bringing active cases to 13,818.

According to the DOH’s COVID-19 tracker, these new infections also raised the country’s caseload to 3,718,467 nationwide, with 3,644,009 recoveries and 60,640 deaths.

The new cases were almost double the average number of infections recorded from June 27 to July 3 at 1,057.

Based on the tracker, Metro Manila continued to lead with the highest number of infections per region in the last two weeks with 8,016 cases, followed by Calabarzon with 3,536, and Western Visayas with 1,535.

Quezon City, meanwhile, topped the list of cities with the most reported cases in the last two weeks at 1,642, followed by Cavite at 1,257 and Manila with 1,035.

The tracker also showed that a total of 17,651 individuals have been tested for COVID-19 on Saturday, July 9.
