Driver dies, four hurt in car-truck collision in Isabela
CORDON, Isabela — A driver died and four other people were wounded in a collision between a pick-up car and a ten-wheel wing-van truck at the national road here on Friday, July 9, police said on Sunday.
Lloyd Andrew Erfe, pick-up driver and a resident of Cauayan City, died while being treated at the Southern Isabela Medical Center, while his three passengers Rocky Batongbakal and Brenzon Jann Salvador, both of Jones town, and Christopher Cristobal of Reina Mercedes, Isabela were also taken to the hospital, Police Lieutenant William Lugo, Cordon deputy police chief, said.
Rescuers spent about 20 minutes in extracting Erfe after it was pinned in the car that was crushed by the impact when the ten-wheeler driven by Daniel Serrano, 59, of Rosario, Batangas collided with it in Caquilingan village at around 3 p.m.
Serrano was also slightly hurt and was brought to the police station for questioning after a treatment at a clinic.
The pick-up occupants were on their way home to Isabela after distributing relief goods to flood-affected villagers in Banaue, Ifugao when they met the accident.
