QUARRY SITE WORKER KILLED

A WATCHMAN of a quarry site was stabbed dead by his fellow worker in barangay Pulangbato, Cebu City.

Geoffrey Miñoza Arianaza, 37, died of a stab wound in the chest.

The suspect, Bimbo Comeso Leyson, 40, tried to escape after the killing. Co-workers called the police who responded and arrested Leyson.

The motive of the attack has not been established yet.

WOMAN FALLS IN DRUG BUY-BUST

A 40-YEAR-OLD woman was arrested for allegedly selling illegal drugs in barangay Centro, Mandaue City.

Jerrylen Gadiana was arrested by members of the Basak police station in a buy-bust operation conducted inside a food chain last Tuesday

Police handcuffed Gadiana shortly after she handed 14 packs of suspected shabu to a poseur buyer, said Senior Insp. Wilson Abot, chief of the Basak police.

A wad of fake paper bills with a genuine P100 bill on top was used.

It was later learned that Gadiana has a pending warrant of arrest for an illegal drug case in Lapu-Lapu City, said police./CORRESPONDENT NORMAN V. MENDOZA

MANDAUE POLICE LAUDED

CHIEF Supt. Marcelo Garbo made a surprise visit to Mandaue City Police Office yesterday and commended the men there for complying with police programs.

“We are focusing on the Police Integrated Patrol System (PIPS) and tourist police programs,” he said.

Policemen were able to speak directly with the police regional chief director to air their concerns.

Senior Supt. Noel Gillamac, chief of MCPO, whom the Mandaue City Council wants to stay on after his two-year tour of duty, said he declined to extend his tenure to pursue career advancement and allow others the chance to be Mandaue police chief.
