ANGELES CITY – A 24-year-old man was arrested in Pasay City on Friday afternoon, July 8, after receiving a package containing P17,250,000 worth of shabu (crystal meth) sent via Clark Freeport Zone.
In a statement to the media on Saturday, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Central Luzon (PDEA-CL) identified the arrested suspect as Angel Paul Larimar Felismenia, aka Rocky Reyes Marasigan.
Glenn Guillermo, PDEA-CL information officer, said the suspect was the consignee of a package sent from Rockville, Maryland in the United States that arrived at the Port of Clark on July 5. Authorities did not reveal the name of the sender.
“The parcel was declared as non-perishable chocolates, coffee, and sweets. It was consigned to a certain Rocky Reyes Marasigan,” he said.
Inspectors of the Bureau of Customs (BOC) in Clark found the 2.5 kilograms of suspected shabu inside the package and immediately reported it to the PDEA.
An entrapment operation that PDEA-CL calls a “controlled delivery” was planned and executed for the arrest of the consignee.
Guillermo said the controlled delivery operation was conducted by joint operatives led by PDEA-CL, PDEA- Pampanga, PDEA Region 4-A, PDEA Clark Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group, BOC Port of Clark, and the Pasay City police.
“A case for violation of section 4 (importation of dangerous drugs) of RA 9165 (the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) will be charged against the arrested consignee,” he added.
