3 nabbed for illegal drugs in Camarines Sur

LEGAZPI CITY — Three suspected drug personalities were arrested in separate operations in Camarines Sur province on Friday, July 8, a report said Saturday.

Police Master Sergeant Tobias Bongon, Naga City police spokesperson, said in a report that Elias Taroma, 42, was arrested in a buy-bust in Barangay (village) Balatas around 5:30 p.m.

Anti-narcotics operatives confiscated a sachet of shabu (crystal meth) from the suspect who was included in the illegal drugs watch list in the city.

In Baao town, Jufred Felesmenio, 37, was also arrested in a separate operation in Barangay Sagrada around 11:20 a.m.

Police Major Divino John Pelea, Baao police chief, said the authorities recovered five sachets of shabu and a sachet containing marijuana leaves with fruiting tops.

Pelea said they also recovered an improvised glass pipe, 38 small empty plastic sachets, and a strip cut of aluminum foil.

The suspects will face charges for violation of Republic Act (RA) 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Meanwhile, as intel operatives were conducting a monitoring operation in Nabua town, they caught Sandy Parra, 49, in the act of cutting an acacia tree using a chainsaw in Barangay Paloyon Proper around 4:40 p.m.

Police Senior Master Sergeant Juvencio Niebres, intelligence officer of Nabua police, said during the verification process, the suspect threw a plastic canister containing two sachets of suspected shabu.

Niebres said the suspect also failed to show the required permits from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources for tree cutting activities.

Charges will be filed against him for violating RA 9175 (Chain Saw Act) and violation of RA 9165.
