MANILA, Philippines —Three people were hurt by flash floods and mudslides in Banaue town in Ifugao province, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said on Friday.

“Per initial report ng (of) CAR mayroong (there are) 3 injured persons ngunit minor daw po ito (but it’s only minor) and has already been treated,” NDRRMC media liaison Eleasha Mariano told Inquirer.net in a text message.

CAR is the Office of Civil Defense-Cordillera Administrative Region.

Parts of Ifugao — particularly Banaue town — were hit by flash floods and mudslides on Thursday triggered by heavy rains caused by southwest monsoon or habagat.

NDRRMC also said 500 families or around 1,500 individuals were affected by the incident.

The said families received food packs from the Department of Social Welfare and Development.

Meanwhile, three roads remain impassable in the area as of Thursday night due to a series of soil collapses.

“Clearing operations will commence when weather permits,” the NDRRMC said.
