The Southern Police District (SPD) identified the fatalities as elevator installers Manuel Linayao and Rey Miguel Gilera.
Based on SPD’s report, an elevator car fell from the 38th floor to the basement of the building, eventually hitting and killing Linayao and Gilera who were fixing an elevator on the 6th floor.
The wounded persons, who are also elevator installers, have not been named yet by the SPD.
According to the police report, the incident happened around 2:55 a.m.
The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) reported that the Special Rescue Force (SRF) in Makati responded to the scene at around 3:46 a.m. and an additional ambulance was deployed around 06:44 a.m.
Two rescue trucks from Makati’s SRF and Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) team, as well as three ambulances, responded to the incident.
The BFP said a rescue and retrieval operation was ongoing as of this posting.
