TACLOBAN CITY—Two village chiefs in Eastern Visayas were killed in separate attacks on Wednesday (July 6).
In Biliran province, Roberto Yapan, village chair of Julita, Biliran town, was stabbed and killed allegedly by a certain Jene Balce.
The perpetrator immediately escaped after stabbing Yapan who was rushed to Biliran Provincial Hospital in Naval town where he was declared dead by doctors.
Yapan suffered wounds in the neck and back after he was attacked while he stood on his terrace.
Gov. Gerard Roger Espina has offered a reward of P150,000 to any person who could help police locate the suspect.
In Albuera, Leyte, Roland Buyoc, chief of Barangay Seguinon, was shot and killed by two men on board a motorcycle while he was on his way home.
Buyoc suffered a gunshot wound in the head and was rushed to hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Albuera policemen are now on the hunt for the still unidentified suspects.
