Don’t reverse Hacienda Luisita ruling, Satur Ocampo urges Supreme Court

LUCENA CITY—Bayan Muna and Makabayan coalition president Satur Ocampo has warned the justices of the Supreme Court not to reverse their ruling on Hacienda Luisita should Chief Justice Renato Corona be ousted by the Senate impeachment court with a guilty verdict.

“We’re warning the Supreme Court justices that we will be watching them, especially whoever will replace Mr. Corona. The court decision on Hacienda Luisita was unanimous. All the justices were committed to the rightness of distributing the hacienda to the farmers,” Ocampo told reporters here on Wednesday on the sidelines of the National Small Coconut Farmers Summit where he was guest speaker.

Hacienda Luisita, covering 4,915.75 hectares in Tarlac, is owned by the Cojuangcos, the maternal relatives of President Benigno  Aquino III.
