MANILA, Philippines – Operatives have destroyed P600,000 worth of fully-grown marijuana plants in Tugaya, Lanao del Sur, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said.

PNP said in a statement on Wednesday that the destroyed marijuana consisted of 3,000 fully-grown marijuana plants, which were found on a plantation in Brgy. Bago A Ingud in Tugaya, Lanao del Sur.

The marijuana plantation was discovered when the PNP Drug Enforcement Group, Taguya Municipal Police, and other anti-drug operatives conducted an anti-illegal drug operation in the area on Tuesday, July 5.

But no suspect or cultivator was arrested during the said operation, the PNP said.

“The series of uprooting and destruction of marijuana plants is a testament [to] the relentless drive to suppress those who harbor this kind of business. Definitely, [an] ongoing investigation will continue to find out those responsible for this,” PNP officer-in-charge Lt. Gen. Vicente Danao Jr. said. – Nicole Faye Agcaoili, INQUIRER.net intern
