Palace declares July 9 as regular holiday for Eid’l Adha

MANILA, Philippines — Malacañang has declared July 9, Saturday, a regular holiday in the country in observance of Eid’l Adha, the Islamic Feast of Sacrifice.

The Palace issued on Wednesday Proclamation No. 2, signed by Executive Secretary Vic Rodriguez.

“Now, therefore, I, Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare Saturday, 09 July 2022, a regular holiday throughout the country in observance of Eid’l Adha,” the proclamation reads.

The Palace released the proclamation following the recommendation of the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos.

“Following the 1443 Hijrah Islamic Lunar Calendar, the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos has recommended that 09 July 2022, Saturday, be declared a national holiday, in observance of Eid’l Adha,” the proclamation states.

The Palace said the observance of Eid’l Adha should be subject to the public health measures of the national government.
