Bongbong Marcos: VP Sara Duterte eyes 100% in-person classes by November

MANILA, Philippines — Vice President and concurrent Education Secretary Sara Duterte is eyeing to impose face-to-face classes in full capacity by November.

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. revealed this Tuesday, saying in a press briefing: “Inday Sara has announced that we have a plan for full face-to-face by November of this year. September, we will start face-to-face schooling and that face-to-face will end up in early November as already 100 percent attendance ng mga bata.”

The return to face-to-face classes was among the topics discussed during Tuesday’s first Cabinet meeting, Marcos Jr. said.

He said Duterte gave ideas as to how the country can return to in-person classes as the battle against the coronavirus pandemic continues.

“Kasama diyan we have to talk about also vaccination… because there are going to be some issues that will be raised,” Marcos Jr. said.

Duterte earlier said she is “targeting” to implement full face-to-face classes in schools by August.

With the plans to return to face-to-face classes, Marcos Jr. said vaccination of the younger population has to be encouraged.

“We will be encouraging that, especially for younger people, because again, we have to be concerned with their return to school. That is the general policy, we will reinstate the vaccine drive so we can at least feel safer when the children go back to school,” he said.
