CITY OF MALOLOS—Police on Sunday killed a suspected robber after victimizing a convenience store and trying to evade a checkpoint in Barangay Niugan in this city.

Colonel Charlie Cabradilla, Bulacan police director, said on Monday, July 4, that the suspect and his companions engaged responding policemen in a shootout at about 4: 30 a.m. on Sunday.

The suspect’s companions, all armed, managed to escape, Cabradilla said.

Investigators said the suspects robbed at 2:20 a.m. Sunday the Alfamart convenience store in Barangay Sumapang Matanda.

Policemen were alerted about the robbery and tried to stop the suspects at a checkpoint in Niugan.

The suspects, who refused to stop, opened fire on the authorities, leading to the shootout.

Colonel Ferdinand Germino, Malolos police chief, said they recovered P177,000 cash and mobile phones that the robbers took with them.

Last week, another armed robber attacked an Alfamart convenience store in Paombong town and was killed.
