MANILA, Philippines — In less than 24 hours, anti-drug authorities have arrested seven suspects and seized at least P250,000 worth of “shabu” (crystal meth) in separate buy-bust operations in Quezon City.

QCPD Director Brig. Gen. Remus Medina said Monday that three suspects identified as Johnson Base, 36, of Brgy. Pasong Tamo; Efren Lopez, 44, of Brgy. Old Balara; and Ferdinand Manaois, 24, of Brgy. Loyola Heights were arrested at 3:50 p.m. on Saturday, July 2. He added that the suspects yielded 20 grams of shabu worth P136,000, a black coin purse, and the buy-bust money.

Another buy-bust operation in Brgy. Commonwealth led to the arrest of four more suspects, namely: Angela Dalipe, 29, of Brgy. Batasan Hills; Russel Bautista, 30, of Brgy, Commonwealth; Ruel Tandog, 30, of Brgy. Payatas; and Marlon Cristobal, 33, of Brgy. Bagong Silangan.

According to Batasan Police Station 6 chief Lt. Col. Abraham Abayari, the buy-bust operation was carried out by members of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Unit along Doña Nicasia St. at 2:00 a.m. on Sunday, July 3. He added that 17 grams of shabu worth P115,000, one black purse, and the buy-bust money were recovered from the suspects during the operation.

“Ang inyong mga lingkod-bayan sa aming himpilan ay hindi kailanman hihinto sa pagsugpo ng droga sa aming nasasakupan at hindi kami matitinag sa anumang panganib na maaaring idulot ng pagkasa ng mga operasyon laban sa mga pinaghihinalang nagtutulak ng droga,” Medina said in a statement.

(Your public servants at our agency will never stop fighting illegal drugs in our jurisdiction and we will not be shaken by any threats that the operations against suspected drug traffickers may cause.)

Meanwhile, Metro Manila police chief Maj. Gen.

(I would sincerely like to congratulate and thank our QCPD police for the successful operation against illegal drugs. These measures are living proof of our dedication to combating the spread of harmful illegal drugs in our city.)

Police said all seven suspects will be facing charges in violation of Republic Act No. 9165 or the “Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.” — Nicole Faye Agcaoili, INQUIRER.net trainee
