BAGUIO CITY—Two drug suspects were arrested Sunday, July 3, after they were rescued from a vehicular accident in Tuba town, Benguet province, police said.

Investigators said Jemssie Galang Salazar, 40, and Justin Jerome Baisa, 28, figured in the accident after their vehicle flipped over when the brakes malfunctioned.

The two suspects managed to get out of their vehicle immediately, bringing with them a box to the edge of the road. But the box, which contained marijuana, accidentally fell.

Responding policemen then discovered 12 tubular dried marijuana leaves in the box. They immediately apprehended the suspects.

The two were taken to the temporary lock-up jail of the Tuba Municipal Police Station after receiving medical treatment.

Police said the recovered contraband was worth P1.4 million.
