Pagasa: Rain showers expected in parts of PH due to ‘habagat’, easterlies

MANILA, Philippines — The southwest monsoon or “habagat” and the easterlies will cause scattered rains in parts of the country on Monday.

According to Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio, Batanes and Cagayan will have overcast skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms.

“Kasalukuyan, ‘yung habagat o southwest monsoon ay nakakaapekto doon lamang po sa kanlurang bahagi ng Northern Luzon,” he said.

(The southwest monsoon is affecting the western section of Northern Luzon.)

Meanwhile, easterlies will bring rains to parts of the Visayas and Mindanao.

“Sa Visayas at Mindanao, maulap ang kalangitan na may mga kalat-kalat na pag-ulan at thunderstorm sa Eastern Samar, Southern Leyte, Leyte, kasama na rin ang Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Sur, at Surigao del Norte,” said Aurelio.

No weather disturbance is expected to enter the archipelago in the next three days, Aurelio said.
