Radioman accused of duping Cebu City resident

Charges were filed in court yesterday against a radio block timer who was accused of duping a man in barangay Apas, Cebu City.

Arman Cuban will be facing trial on charges of violating the Revised Penal Code, particularly on the law against “other deceits.”

No bail was recommended.

Asst. City Prosecutor Aurora Peñaflor found probable cause to indict Cuban who allegedly told a certain Ferdinance Amores that the latter’s lot contained gold deposits worth billions of pesos.

Last May 2011, Cuban allegedly informed Amores that the gold deposits can only be extracted through prayer using black candles worth P70,000.

Amores was persuaded and gave the accused a total amount of P82,000 supposedly for the purchase of black candles and containers for the extracted gold deposits.

Based on the evidence submitted, the prosecutor said Cuban knew that the perceived gold deposits are non-existing.

Peñaflor said Cuban just wanted to obtain money by deceiving Amores.

The prosecutor gave Cuban a chance to submit his counter-affidavit to refute the allegations but the accused failed to answer the accusations against him.
