Pagasa: Cloudy Sunday with rain showers in many parts of PH due to LPA

MANILA, Philippines — A low pressure area (LPA) off Surigao Del Sur will bring rain to many parts of the country on Sunday, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

Pagasa weather specialist Benizon Estareja said the LPA was spotted 195 kilometers east of Hinatuan, Surigao Del Sur.

“Dahil sa LPA maulap na rin po ang kalangitan dito sa malaking bahagi ng Visayas and even Caraga region. Sasamahan ‘yan ngayong araw ng kalat kalat na pagulan at light to moderate rains,” said Estareja.

(Due to the LPA, cloudy skies and scattered rain showers will prevail in many parts of the Visayas and Caraga region in Mindanao.)

Cloudy skies and scattered rain showers in the afternoon and evening are likewise expected inSouthern Luzon, particularly the Bicol and Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon) regions and the provinces of Marinduque and Romblon due to the LPA’s trough or extension

“Mababa ang tiyansa na ang LPA ay magiging isang bagyo, ngunit nakikita natin na tatawarin nito ang sa susunod na dalawang araw ang ating bansa,” said Estareja.

(The LPA has a slim chance of intensifying into a storm, but it is expected to cross the country in the next two days.)

Despite the presence of an LPA, no gale warning is in effect over the country’s seaboards.
