Dentist killed in Makati clinic
The police have formed a team to investigate the case of a 33-year-old dentist who was robbed and stabbed to death inside her clinic in Barangay (barangay) East Rembo, Makati City, at around noon on Tuesday.
The killing of Dr. Maila Guiado happened just days after a Manila judge sentenced Albert Galang de la Cruz to life imprisonment for the robbery and rape of another female dentist in Paco, Manila, last year.
The case was just one of several filed against De la Cruz who was found to be behind a series of robberies involving women dentists in different areas in Metro Manila and nearby provinces. Some of his victims were either molested or raped.
In a phone interview, Makati police officer in charge Superintendent Jaime Santos described Guiado’s killing as disturbing, considering that it was committed at daytime.
The victim’s co-workers told the police that they left the clinic on 9th Street at around noon. When they got back at around 3 p.m., they found Guiado lying bloodied on the floor, her valuables missing.
Santos said the victim’s attacker apparently hit her on the head with a bottle and used one of the shards to stab her repeatedly. He added that the victim would undergo an autopsy to determine whether she was raped as there were scratch marks on her body.
