MANILA, Philippines — All minors aged 12-17 will soon be receiving COVID-19 vaccine booster shots, Department of Health (DOH) spokesperson Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said on Saturday.
Vergeire made the announcement a few days after the DOH approved the administration of the booster shots on minors aged 12-17 who are immunocompromised.
“Nagbigay na din po ng ‘oo’ na pwede na ipatupad din ang the rest of the population ng 12-17,” Vergeire said in a public briefing.
“Hopefully in the coming weeks makikita natin ang slow na pagtaas nito pong ating 12-17 booster doses dahil kailangan po ng ating mga kabataan ang booster doses na ito,” she added.
Vergeire however, did not mention when the administration of the booster doses for those in 12-17 age bracket will start.
INQUIRER.net has asked Vergeire for clarification.
Vergeire said some 100 immunocompromised minors in the 12-17 age bracket have already received COVID-19 booster shots.
