Bicol region logs 23 new dengue cases

LEGAZPI CITY — The Department of Health (DOH) in the Bicol region  has recorded 23 new dengue cases from June 11 to 18 monitoring period.

The agency said the figure is 92 percent higher than the record in the same period last year.

In the data released Friday, DOH – Bicol said the region has logged 607 dengue cases with two deaths from January to June 18, 2022.

The province of Camarines Sur has 373 cases, followed by Camarines Norte with 108,  Catanduanes with 57,  Masbate with 34, Albay with 23 and Sorsogon with 12..

The DOH urged the public to follow the 4S strategy – Search and destroy mosquito breeding sites, use Self-Protection Measures, Seek early consultation, and Say yes to fogging when there is an impending outbreak or a hotspot.

The agency also reminded the public to eliminate the mosquito breeding sites especially with the onset of the rainy season.
