Briones to join Seameo Innotech as center director, says DepEd

MANILA, Philippines — Outgoing Department of Education (DepEd) Secretary Leonor Magtolis Briones has been appointed as center director of the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization Regional Centre for Educational Innovation and Technology (Seameo Innotech).

In a statement, the DepEd announced that Briones would assume her post at Seameo Innotech on August 1, 2022.

DepEd said Briones received the letter of endorsement from the organization.

“The whole Department of Education (DepEd) family congratulates outgoing Education Secretary Leonor Magtolis Briones for her appointment,” the DepEd said Tuesday.

“We greatly appreciate the leadership of Secretary Briones in the Department as we witnessed various accomplishments in attaining accessible and quality basic education during her full six-year term. We are confident that she will continue her plans and platforms in Seameo Innotech, given her vast experience in public service and international relations,” the agency furthered.

Before the post, Briones served as vice president of the Seameo Council from 2021 to 2022.

Seameo Innotech is a regional center of Seameo based in the Philippines that identifies education problems and develops innovative and technology-based solutions for Southeast Asian countries.
