BACOLOD CITY—The release of rice incentives for Negros Occidental senior citizens vaccinated against COVID-19 has started.
Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz said on Tuesday, June 21, that they initially released 66 sacks of rice for 661 vaccinated senior citizens who will receive five kilos each.
The provincial government has been trying to ramp up the COVID-19 vaccination drive so more local governments in Negros Occidental can be de-escalated to Alert Level 1.
Nine of the 31 local governments in Negros Occidental are under Alert Level 1, while the rest remain under Alert Level 2.
The province has vaccinated only 64.11 percent of its target population, making it the lowest performer in Western Visayas, the Department of Health (DOH) reported Monday.
The province has also vaccinated 58.86 percent of its target senior citizen population, DOH said.
