PCG to send security personnel, assets on Marcos inauguration
MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has committed some of its assets and personnel to beef up the security for the inauguration of President-elect Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. at the National Museum of Fine Arts in Manila on June 30.
According to PCG Commandant Admiral Artemio Abu, the Department of Interior and Local Government enjoined the coast guard to contribute to measures that will “uphold public safety and security on the first day of the Marcos administration.”
“We will deploy assets and personnel to augment the Task Group Maritime Security – NCR – Central Luzon that is in charge of ensuring maritime security and maritime safety during the inauguration of the newly-elected chief executive of the Philippines,” Abu said in a statement Tuesday.
He detailed that the PCG Fleet will send rigid hull inflatable boats, aluminum boats, and personal watercraft in the waters off Manila Bay and Pasig River, while PCG land vehicles will be used to direct the traffic flow in Manila on the day of the inauguration.
More than 100 PCG security personnel will guard the area near the National Museum during the oath-taking ceremony. A Coast Guard medical team, equipped with a PCG ambulance, will likewise be on hand to provide medical assistance.
