Active COVID-19 cases within PNP slightly increase to 6
MANILA, Philippines — COVID-19 infections among Philippine National Police (PNP) personnel appear to have registered a slight increase, as three new cases were reported on Tuesday.
This meant that active cases within the police force have doubled to six as of Tuesday morning. Of the three new cases, PNP said that two are new infections while the other one encountered a reinfection.
All in all, there are now 48,885 COVID-19 cases within PNP since the pandemic arrived in the country, of which 48,750 patients were able to recover. No new deaths were recorded, which meant that the death toll is still at 129.
The numbers on Tuesday were a slight increase from that of June 15, when PNP reported one new infection that pushed the active case count to three.
An additional 329 police officers also got their second doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. This brings the total number of vaccinated PNP personnel to 225,114, or 99.30 percent of the entire PNP strength which is at 226,695.
