Pagasa: Fair Monday weather with possible isolated rains

MANILA, Philippines — The country will have generally fair weather on Monday but isolated rains may still occur, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

In its early morning weather update, Pagasa said the ridge of the high pressure area extending over the eastern section of Northern and Central Luzon and the easterlies, or warm winds coming from the Pacific Ocean, continue to affect the country.

These two weather systems, according to weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio, will bring fair weather.

Isolated rain showers, however, can still be expected due to localized thunderstorms.

Pagasa warned of possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.

“Kahit umiiral ang monsoon break, panahon pa rin ng tag-ulan, kaya may mga inaasahan tayo na mga isolated na mga pag-ulan dulot ng localized thunderstorms,” Aurelio said.

(Even though the monsoon break is ongoing, it is still the rainy season, that’s why we expect isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms.)

“Ang mga pag-ulan na ito ay maaaring mahina hanggang sa katamtaman hanggang sa kung minsan may malalakas na pag-ulan, kaya para sa mga kababayan po natin ‘wag kalimutan magdala ng payong,” he added.

(We can expect either light, moderate or heavy rains, the public is advised to bring their umbrellas with them.)

Meanwhile, Northern and Central Luzon will have light to moderate southeast to south winds and slight to moderate (0.6 to 2.1 meters) coastal waters.

The rest of the country will have light to moderate east to southeast winds and slight to moderate (0.6 to 1.5 meters) coastal waters.
