MANILA, Philippines — Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) chair Anselmo Pinili has been designated acting general manager of the PCSO.
“Anselmo Pinili has brought integrity and character to the office of the Chairman of the Board of PCSO, despite the efforts of corrupt officers to undermine his initiatives for revenue enhancements thru digitization and online lotto sales,” Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption (VACC) said in a statement.
Arsenio “Boy” Evangelista, president of VACC, hailed Malacañang’s designation of Pinili as acting general manager, but called on President-elect Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to reorganize the agency to weed out corrupt officials in the organization.
Royina Garma has resigned as vice chair, general manager and board member of PCSO.
The VACC also called on Marcos to appoint a general manager who is familiar with the gaming operations of PCSO and has a track record of integrity.
“PCSO gaming operations must be digitized and retooled to maximize online sales while ensuring that all gaming ticket revenues are accounted for,” Evangelista said.
“Over the years, certain PCSO officials have caused the government to lose out on revenue opportunities. It is high time to do a full investigation, and if warranted by evidence, charge and prosecute them,” he added.
