BAGUIO CITY — Two boys died, and three others were hurt when a car carrying them fell Thursday evening into a 30-meter ravine along the national road at Barangay Gonogon in Bontoc town, Mountain Province, police said Friday.
Master Sergeant Esteban Khayad Jr., Bontoc police investigator, said the victims came from Sabangan town in Mountain Province and were on their way to Bontoc town proper when they figured in the accident.
Dead on arrival at a hospital were 11-year-old Fausto Ballakis Jr. of Sabangan and 4-year-old Nathan James Oloan Ballakis of Bontoc.
The injured were Jeranie Ballakis, 50, and Fausto Ballakis, Sr., 51, who were both rushed to the Luis Hora Memorial Regional Hospital for treatment. The other injured person, Fernan Ballakis, 18, was taken to the Bontoc General Hospital.
The police said the driver fell asleep and lost control of the car, causing it to plunge into the ravine.
