MANILA, Philippines—At least four marijuana plantations in Tinglayan town, Kalinga province were destroyed by a team of police officers in the area, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said on Thursday (June 16).
Reports shared by PNP’s Public Information Office (PNP-PIO) said over 135,000 marijuana plants were seized and destroyed on Thursday morning by policemen from the PNP Drug Enforcement Group, Regional Mobile Force Battalion of the Cordillera Administrative Region police and Kalinga town police force.
At the first site, police found P2 million worth of marijuana plants, P20 million worth at the second site and P5 million worth at the third site.
But Lt. Gen. Vicente Danao Jr., PNP officer in charge, said no arrests were made during the operation.
“Our police personnel have been actively operating against the vast plantation of marijuana in the province,” Danao said.
“No cultivator was apprehended during the successive operation but this will serve as a warning to those who are participating in this illegal business,” Danao added.
