MANILA, Philippines — The intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) may cause rains over the southern part of the country, particularly over Davao Region, the state weather bureau said on Thursday afternoon.

Weather updates from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) showed thick cloud bands hovering around the ITCZ and moving into the southern tip of Mindanao.

Meanwhile, in Luzon, there are also cloud clusters over the eastern and central portions but Pagasa said this would only cause short isolated rains and thunderstorms.

“Asahan natin na magiging aliwalas pa rin yung ating panahon mula umaga hanggang tanghali dito sa Metro Manila pati na rin sa nalalabing bahagi ng Luzon,” weather specialist Ana Clauren-Jorda said.

(Let’s hope that our weather remains pleasant from morning to noon here in Metro Manila and in the rest of Luzon.)

She said that Visayas and Mindanao will likely have clear weather from morning until noon.

On Friday, most areas in Luzon may experience warm weather, with Tuguegarao possibly registering temperatures from 24 to 34 degrees Celsius.  Metro Manila may have between 26 to 33 degrees, Laoag with 26 to 32 degrees, Legazpi with 27 to 32 degrees, Tagaytay with 22 to 30 degrees, and Puerto Princesa with 25 to 32 degrees.

In the Visayas and Mindanao, Tacloban, Iloilo, and Cebu may feel temperatures around 26 to 32 degrees Celsius.  Davao may have a slight hot weather condition with 25 to 33 degrees, Cagayan de Oro with 24 to 31 degrees, and Zamboanga with 24 to 33 degrees.

No gale warning was raised in any part of the country but sea condition will be moderate over Luzon’s western, northern, eastern sea, and waters east of Eastern Visayas.
