Agreement inked for work training of CITE students

THE Cebu Energy Development Corporation (CEDC) has partnered with the Center for Industrial Technology and Enterprise (CITE) for the Dual Training System (DTS) program.

CITE executive director Engineer Ruben Laraya and Global Business Power Corp. and CEDC president Arthur Aguilar sealed an agreement for the project last March 1 at the coal-fired power plant’s site in Toledo City, Cebu.

CITE’s board of trustee Emiliano Borja, industry linkage manager Bonifacio Mercado and industry coordination officer Marlon Valencia, and CEDC’s vice president-head Toledo operations Leah Diaz and plant manager Matt Mancira, and Toledo Power Company plant manager Jose Contento witnessed the signing.

Under the agreement, CITE will deploy 15 students to CEDC in line with the school’s curriculum.

These students will undergo training for plant operators and technicians for 15 months.

The CEDC, a subsidiary of Global Business Power Corp., has allocated P2.3 million in funding for the corporate social responsibility project.

Combining theoretical and practical training under the DTS program, student-trainees will be provided with the needed skills, work knowledge and attitude that they can use in applying for a job.
