Blackwater routs Pacific Pipes in PBA D-League opening
THE BLACKWATER Sports opened their campaign on a winning note as they blasted the Pacific Pipes Steel Masters, 88-67, in the opening playdate of the PBA D-League Foundation Cup yesterday at the Arena in San Juan City.
Gio Ciriacruz scored 16 points to lead Blackwater, which took control of the game from the onset with a 12-0 run. By halftime, Blackwater Sports enjoyed a 49-22 advantage.
Blackwater Sports outscored Pacific Pipes 28-6 in the second quarter highlighted by 66 percent shooting (12-of-18) from the field.
Jordan Mandani scored 15, Robby Celiz had 14, Paul Zamar added 13 while Jeric Fortuna dished 5 assists for the Elite, who shot 56 percent (32 of 57) for the game.
Jordan Sanvictores showed the way for Pacific Pipes with 13 points. Barnett Roagado and Raymond Ilagan had 11 points apiece while Virgil Buensuceso had four steals for the Steel Masters, who shot just 39 percent for the game and committed a total 24 turnovers. /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
